Kham-The Ganzi Khampa Overland

Highlights:
Located in western Sichuan Province and adjacent to Tibet, Qinghai, and Yunnan Provinces, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous prefecture covers an area of 153,002 squire kilometers. It is situated at the edge of the Qinghai - Tibetan, Plateau, and has many famous mountain ranges and rivers, such as Mt. Gongga, Jinsha River, Dadu River, and Yarlong River. All the snowy mountains, plateaus, valleys, and grasslands have created many natural splendid scenic areas, making the region unique and colourful. As an area dominated by Tibetan culture for a long period of time, the local customs are clearly reflected in the more than 500 Lamaist temples in the prefecture.

With its highest peak touching the heaven at 7,556 meters above sea level, Mount Gongga straddles three counties of Kangding, Luding and Jiulong. The Surrounding area includes a wide range of topography, such as virgin forests, snow caped mountains, alpine lakes, hot springs, waterfall and so on.

At an altitude of 2850 meters above sea level, Hailuogou Gully Glacial Forest Park lies in a valley carved by glaciers along the eastern slop of Mount Gongga in Luding County. The Gully has hot springs, virgin forest, glacier carved peaks, and abundant animal and plant resources. Golden peak and silver peak face to face offer a magnificent view.

The last frontier for humanity can be found at Yading, Daocheng. The primitive and mysterious surroundings, snow caped peaks, wide valleys, and Tibetan villages are brilliance and beauty to every image.

ITINERARY
Day 1, Arrive in Chengdu
Picked up at Chengdu Airport, and transfer to hotel. overnight at hotel.

Day 2, Chengdu - Mt. Erlang- Hailuogou
Chengdu-Mt. Erlang- Hailuogou National glacier Forest Park (280 km, drive approximately 6-7 hrs) overnight in No: 3 Camp (3200m.)

Day 3, Hailuogou National Glacier Forest Park - Kangding- Yajiang, overnight at Yajiang (2200m) Early morning sunrise of Mt. Gongga, breakfast, Pass Kangding, visit the famous sightseeing << love song>> mountain cross the Mt.Zheduo at a elevation of 4200m, visit the Xindu Bridge which famed for the scenery, drive to Yajiang at a elevation of 2200m.

Day 4, Yajiang - Daocheng overnight in daocheng (3700m)
After breakfast, pass the highest city in the world - Litang (4100m), cross Mt. Haizi Nature Reserve.(Mt. Haizi at an elevation 4500m, it is the relic of accident plateau glacier) pilgrimage in Bangpu Monastery, arrive the Shangri-la Daocheng. En route see the uncivilized scenery and lifestyle of Qinghai- Tibet Plateau.

Day 5, Daocheng - Riwa (Shangrila) village - Yading (106 km.), overnight in tent (10- 15 People) Drive to Yading Nature Reserve through Daocheng - Riwa (Shangrila) village after breakfast, although 80 km. gravel road, however the roadbed is perfect, it drives approximately 1.5 hrs, arrive the portal of Yading Nature Reserve, trekking to Chonggu Temple, see the scenery of Chonggu Temple and holy peak Xiannairi, and continued trekking to Luorong Pasture, see the another holy peak Yangmaiyong, Xiannairi and Luorong Pasture, moreover please note, the meal and accommodation are not nice today. In the Nature Reserve, the meals are solved by "solid food" or cooked out side and bring into by tour guide. Over night at Luorong Pasture.

Day 6, Luorong Pasture - Niunaihai (Milk lake), over night in tent (10-15 people)
Trekking to Niunaihai (Milk Lake), Wuhuahai (Colourful lake), see the holy peak Yangmaiyong, Xialuoduoji, and the plateau scenery at elevation of 5000m, overnight in Luorong Pasture tent.

Day 7, Yading Nature Reserve - Daocheng - Litang, overnight in Litang (4100m)
Morning, drive back the Daocheng, transfer to Litang country after a short while rest, overnight in Litang.

Day 8, Litang - Xinlong - Ganzi, overnight in Ganzi (3400m)
After breakfast, drive 280km.to Ganzi is big Tibetan town. There is very huge Monastery, old Tibetan houses and glaciers on the mountains. The landscape side has become the Tibetan plateau with cows, grassland, yaks, and horses.

Day 9, Ganzi- Malingange- Dege overnight in Dege (3200m)
Drive 220 km. to Dege, via Mt. Manigange and (Mt. Bird 6012m) then on to Dege the last town before the Tibet border. In Dege, we will visit the Tibetan Sutra Printing house.

Day 10, Dege- Baiyu- Dege overnight in Dege (3200m)
We will along the Jinsha River at the border of Tibet drive to Baiyu, visit the Gatuo Monastery and Baiyu Monastery which are very important in Tibetan world. Then return to Dege.

Day 11, Dege- Ganzi- Luohuo- Daofu overnight in Daofu (2900m)
Drive 369 km. to Daofu country; visit high land view on the way.

Day 12, Daofu - Bamei- Danba overnight in Danba (2000m)
Drive 160km to Danba, the last country in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous prefecture, on the way visit the birthplace of Dalai Lama 11th and also visit Danba Tibetan residential house and its watchtower. Danba also called "Valley of Beauty".

Day 13, Danaba - Rilong (Siguniang that means Four girls) Rilong country is in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, but the view at here is very beautiful. Early morning drive to Rilong around 2 hours, after arrive, trekking the Shuangqiao valley.

Day 14, Rilong (Mt.Siguniang) - Chengdu (220 km.)
Trekking in Changping valley in the morning. In the afternoon drive back to Chengdu city via Wolong visit the Giant Panda.

Day 15, Chengdu
City tour or free day in Chengdu

Day 16, Departure Chengdu
Say good-bye to Chengdu city. Pickup from hotel to Chengdu Airport and fly back to your onwards destination/home country.
