
Cruising
along the heritage and historical trail of Ganges from Kolkata to
Murshidabad a stretch of 260 km. studded with monumental history,
spiritual aura and abundance of green eco- friendly habitations.
Day 1 The journey will start at 3 pm from the
millennium park jetty, cursing along the Ganges and passing underneath the
famous Howard Bridge. The first stop of the day will be at the Belur math, a
historical monument, a monument dedicated by Swami Vivekananda to his guru
Sri Ramkrishna Paramhansa. The vessel will cruising throughout the night a
distance of 180 km. and will anchor at Katwa the next morning.
Day 2 There will be a full day excursion to
Behrampur and Murshidabad and this part will be done by surface transport.
Katra Mosque will be first on our itinerary.The next halt will be Katgola
garden. A huge gate bearing Indo- European influence with European style
statues scattered around. From Katgola we move towards Hazar Duari (Thousand
doors), en rout visiting Nasipur Rajbari. At the entrance of Hazar Duari is
an Imambara which is said to be the largest in India. By the night we return
back to the vessel. The vessel will then sail downstream.
Day 3 Todays morning destination will be
Nawadwip, the birthplace of Sri Chaitanya and Mayapur. The afternoon
excursion will be the to Bandel to visit a 18th century Portuguese church ,
Chandannagar, a Frech possession until 1950 and to the nearby Imamabara and
the Dutch cemetery at Chinsura.
Day 4
ASailing through the Old Danish colony of Serampore, final site seeing visit
will be to the Sri Ramkrishnas Kali Temple at Dakshinewasr. The vessel will
reach the terminal in the afternoon. Departures from Kolkata will be Monday
afternoon and arrival back in Kolkata Thursday morning.
